ROSEVILLE  – PRIDE Industries is pleased to announce the addition of Jim Barone to its Board of Directors. Barone is a past Chair of the NISH Board of Directors, a nonprofit agency which secures federal contracts through the AbilityOne™ program. The program employs over 50,000 individuals with significant disabilities through its network of more than 600 community-based partners such as PRIDE Industries.

“Jim played a vital role in PRIDE’s early entrance into the federal sector. Today, PRIDE’s federal contracts employ more than 900 individuals with significant disabilities,” said Michael Ziegler, President and CEO of PRIDE Industries. “Jim’s industry knowledge, coupled with his expertise in federal contracting, will help PRIDE as we continue to grow our business enterprises while creating meaningful jobs for people with disabilities.”

Barone retired from the Air Force in 2004 with more than 32 years of civilian service including 19 years as a member of the Senior Executive Service.  Among his assignments, he served at the Sacramento Air Logistics Center from 1989 until it closed in July, 2001.  In April 2000 he became the first civilian to serve as a Center Director with overall responsibility for the Air Logistics Center and the installation.  In March 2012, Jim completed twelve years of service to NISH Board of Directors. He chaired board committees including Finance, Strategic Planning, Executive, Governance, and Executive Compensation.  In addition, Jim supported the NISH Board of Directors in succeeding roles as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-Chair, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair.

“As a senior leader at McClellan AFB during its final decade, I saw first-hand the incredible service, support and partnership that PRIDE Industries provides to its customers and to its employees.  PRIDE’s commitment to its people is far more than to provide a job for people with disabilities, but to support them and help them to grow and flourish as individuals,” says Barone. “Since leaving McClellan in 2001, I have remained close to PRIDE Industries.  PRIDE’s commitment to its customers and its people has propelled PRIDE to become one of the nation’s largest and finest employers of people with disabilities.  It is an honor and a privilege to serve on its Board of Directors.  I look forward to re-engaging with Mike Ziegler and my many friends in Roseville and the Sacramento region with PRIDE.”
