As chief operating officer, Peter Berghuis is responsible for PRIDE Industries’ service operations to public and private-sector customers. His oversight includes nationwide facilities maintenance and ancillary services, manufacturing and logistics services, quality programs, procurement, contracting and environmental/engineering services.
Berghuis first joined PRIDE Industries in 1994. He has over 45 years of operations and managerial experience with for-profit and nonprofit leadership and program development expertise. At PRIDE, he served in various capacities between 1994 and 1998, ultimately overseeing 2,300 employees with profit and loss responsibility for an $18 million division. In 1998, he joined the Sacramento Food Bank as Executive Director/CEO, leading one of the nation’s largest food banks providing free emergency goods and services to 25,000 men, women and children each month.
Berghuis returned to PRIDE in 2009. Between 2009 and 2013, he received three promotions before being elevated to his current capacity. During his tenure, he has contributed to revenue growth of +68%, expanding PRIDE Industries’ service and manufacturing offerings in support of jobs for people with disabilities.
Past board service includes the McClellan AFB Restoration Advisory Board, Christian Brothers High School, Goodwill Industries, United Way, the Police Athletic League, and the California Landscape Contractors Association. He is a former member of the Kiwanis, Rotary Club, and Toastmasters, and served as an instructor at California State University, Northridge and Chapman College. He chaired the editorial advisory board for California Landscaping magazine.
Berghuis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Los Angeles with certifications in government contracting for CBOs. He is a current member of the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) and the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).
